Lagu M.I.A ini adalah lagu rock yang ditulis, diaransemen, dan dipopulerkan oleh Avenged Sevenfold yang merupakan grup band rock asal Amerika yang berdiri sejak 1999. Saya menulis tentang lagu ini karena saya suka pada lagu ini dan menurut saya lagu ini mempunyai maksud yang keren.
Dengan melihat judulnya yaitu M.I.A kita bisa langsung tahu bahwa lagu ini memiliki unsur kemiliteran. Karena M.I.A adalah sebuah istilah militer yang merupakan kepanjangan dari Missing In Action, yaitu keadaan dimana seorang atau beberapa prajurit hilang dan tidak diketahui keberadaannya, bisa juga prajurit yang tidak diketahui indentitasnya yang telah terpisah dari satuaannya. Yang mempunyai status M.I.A biasanya ialah prajurit yang terluka sehingga tertinggal atau juga prajurit yang meninggal tapi tidak diketahui dimana ia dan jasadnya tidak bisa diidentifikasi. Untuk mencegah Status M.I.A ini militer AS membuat suatu tanda pengenal berupa kalung yang biasa disebut dog tag sehingga membuat lebih mudah mengenalai identitas prajurit maupun jasadnya sehingga bisa mengurangi status M.I.A ini, terutama bagi prajurit yang telah meninggal.
Di Lirik lagi ini sepertinya status M.I.A ini ditunjukan di bait pertama. Dimana saat sang tokoh di lagu ini ada di dalam pembantaian besar-besaran, lalu mengajak teman-teman lainnya untuk berdiri dan bertarung. Saya menafsirkan seperti ini karena mungkin saat terjadinya baku tembak yang hebat dan disebabkan oleh berbagai faktor sehingga pertarungan menjadi tidak seimbang dan berubah jadi pembantaian. Dalam lagu ini kemungkinan yang terbantai adalah pasukan sang tokoh karena dalam bait awal lagu ini sang tokoh berusaha memberi semangat pada kawannya untuk berdiri dan bertarung, dan tidak mungkin pihak pembantai mengalami kedodoran mental. Sealain itu dalam kondisi terbaintai seperti itu kemungkinan untuk berpisah dengan pasukannya sangat mungkin sehingga menyebabkan sang tokoh menyandang status M.I.A dengan beberapa kawannya.
Di lirik selanjutnya sepertinya itu merupakan kata-kata yang terlalu angkuh untuk seorang yang menyandang status M.I.A. Tapi, menurut saya hal ini mungkin akibat dari tekanan yang cukup tinggi hingga ia mengangkuhkan dirinya sendiri saat keadaan terjepit agar membuat dirinya percaya bahwa dia bisa seperti yang ada di film-film AS.
Di Reff lagu ini sepertinya memberi kita sebuah amanat yaitu Fight for honor fight for your lives, Pray to God that our side is right. yaitu bertarunglah demi kehormatan dan hidupmu, berdoalah pada Tuhan bahwa kita dipihak yang benar (Gila orang tattoan, ditindik, ama suka mabok masih inget ke Tuhan, Subhanallah). Amanat yang sangat menyentuh menurut saya dan membuat kita ingat bahwa dalam peperangang modern seperti sekarang ini terlalu banyak unsur politik yang bergabung. Menurut seorang ahli (maaf saya lupa namanya) Peperangan bukan dimulai oleh angkatan bersenjata, tapi dimulai oleh para politikus. Sehingga berdoa pada Allah SWT sang pencipta kita saat berperang agar kita ada disisinya sangatlah penting karena belum tentu kita berada di jalan yang benar. Hal lain yang cukup mengharukan di Reff ini ialah saat kehadiran sosok ibu yang tengah menangis memikirkan anaknya, sungguh seperti realita.
Di Lirik bagian Bridge pada lagu ini menunjukan bahwa dalam kondisinya yang sangat kritis, darah dimana-mana, semua saudaranya mati, banyak korban berjatuhan, dia tetap berusaha menjalankan misinya. Sebuah perjuangan yang sangat sulit menurutku.
Di bagian akhir lirik lagu ini terjadi perubahan yang sangat mendalam dari lagu ini, dimana sang tokoh diawal sangat angkuh berubah menjadi penuh sesal dan merasa bersalah walaupun jelas dia saat itu bisa diilang seorang pahlawan karena telah berjuang sehebat itu dan ia masih saja merasa bersalah akan semua hal yang telah terjadi, karena kehilangan sobatnya, karena hal yang kurang baik yang ia lakukan, dan karena nyawa yang telah ia hilangkan walau hal itu oleh sebagian orang dianggap sah saja tapi ia masih meresa bersalah. Tapi disini dia tidak penuh penyesalan saja tapi dibalik itu ada kehormatan baginya karena dia adalah pemuda yang telah bertarung penuh ketakutan demi nama Tuhan dan Negaranya, Dont forget that i was so young, fought so scared in the name of God an Country.
Dari beberapa informasi yang saya dapat, katanya lagu ini mengisahkan tentang Perang Irak. Perang yang dianggap perang suci seperti perang salib bagi beberapa orang sehingga dicantumkan di lirik lagu ini in the name of God an Country. Tapi sayang, bagi orang yang membuat perang ini berjalan, ia menganggap perang ini hanya unuk memenuhi kebutuhan perutnya.
Sampai sekarang saya tidak habis pikir, kenapa grup band rock seperti Avenged Sevenfold yang kalian tahulah penampilannya kayak gimana tapi mereka bisa membuat karya yang seperti ini. Menurut saya ini cukup hebat dan saya malu akan diri sendiri mengapa saya yang mengaku bernasionalisme tinggi dan beragama tak pernah beusaha untuk memajukan agama dan nasionalisme di negeri sendiri dan di bidang sendiri. Sya suka lagu ini bukan karena saya mendukung AS di Perang Irak tapi karena saya suka terhadap lagu rock terutama Avenged Sevenfold, dan saya suka liriknya yang penuh perjuangan dan ketuahanan.
Mungkin hanya ini yang bisa saya tanggapi tentang lagu ini. Jika ada kesalahan mohon dimaafkan karena kesempurnaan hanyalah milik Allah SWT.
